Case Study, Ukraine
Building of double wythe clay brick external experimental wall. Total width 17”. Reinforced concrete core secures seismic-proof load bearing capacity of the wall. No costly formwork was used (brick wall itself is a form for concrete). Staples from bended and forged steel bars serve as a part of reinforcement grid and as additional seismic-proof binding for brick layers. Ready wall should be covered by stucco-like cladding and painted by waterproof paint. No specific insulation is required due to huge thermal mass of the wall and perfect insulation capacity of natural clay hollow brick.
